UCD HERITAGE & SCULPTURE TOUR Free Guided Tour An introduction to the art and heritage of the UCD Belfield campus and its fascinating history. The UCD Sculpture Trail and the development of the Belfield campus from UCD’s first purchase of the Belfield House Estate in 1933 to the current crop of new buildings will be a feature of this tour. UCD emerged in the early 20th century from the back ground of the Catholic University of Ireland founded on St Stephens Green under the rectorship of Dr J H Newman in 1854. This tour will contextualise the move from the city centre to Belfield and how the campus developed from a collection of small country estates to the vibrant campus of today. The tours will be led by Ruth Ferguson, Curator UCD Newman House and UCD Art Collection.
