Ironman 70.3 Dún Laoghaire will host over 2,000 athletes from around the world in the only Ironman 70.3 event in Ireland this year. On 19 August 2018, athletes will race in a 1.9km swim, 90km bike course and 21.1km run across our county.
The action will get underway from Sandycove Beach, with a one lap sea swim in the clear waters of Scotsman’s Bay. The athletes will come out of the water at Newstownsmith Green, through the transition zone to where their bikes will be ready to go. From here, they will take on the might of the Wicklow Mountains in a 90km bike ride through some of the most scenic areas in the region – through its glacial lakes, rivers and abundant natural beauty.
The final part of the competition will see the many athletes take in our stunning coastal views as they run the 21.1km route, finishing up in Dún Laoghaire town with Dublin Bay as their backdrop.
