Event Description

The historical relationship between Britain and Ireland has led to the development of two dominant political traditions, Nationalism and Unionism. This course will examine the development of both of these traditions, from their beginnings during the Plantations, through 1798 and the establishment of the Republican tradition in Irish politics. The political evolution of Ireland during the 19th century will be analysed with attention on constitutional Nationalism and the organisation of Unionist opposition.

Course will run for 10 weeks.
