Rockmount Choir

For Bealtaine Festival the Rockmount Choir will be performing on The Metals in the Peoples Park Co Co Market on 6th May 2018 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.  They will hold two performances, the first from 1:00 to 1:20 and the second from 1:40 to 2:00 pm. 

Rockmount Choir is a female voice choir of approx. 20 members based in Foxrock since 1977.  Their conductor is Derek Verso and their repertoire includes classical, jazz, early music and works by contemporary Irish Composers.  For over 40 years, the choir has sung competitively in festivals throughout Ireland and the UK and has received an award from Verona, Italy.  They hold a popular Christmas concert every year on the 2nd Sunday of December.  They rehearse every Wednesday evening in Hollypark Boys School from 8:00 to 10:00 pm and new members are always welcome.  

Sara Weis

Sara Weis is a singer, composer and actor. She studied piano at the College of Music and drama at Trinity College Dublin.  She and Niall were brought together through their mutual love of music from the 20’s, 30’s and 40’s. She has also collaborated with a number of other musicians, most recently with Juan Jose Manzano, the flamenco guitarist, co-writing one of the songs on his new album ‘Miralamar ’.

 Niall Mac Giolla Rua is a piano player, composer and song-writer from Dublin who studied at the Royal Irish Academy of Music and Trinity College Dublin. He is heavily involved in community and school music programmes.   He is currently working on an Irish language song for a choir of over a hundred and fifty primary school children which will be performed next September.  His ultimate goal as a musician is to master pure free-flow improvisation. Come on down and watch two maestros make music!!

Molli Meaghan-Tresson

Molli comes from Dun Laoghaire and plays the guitar and banjo.  She is 14 years old but is an old hand at performing as she has been playing since she was 7.  She has done some busking in Wexford Town but this will the first time performing on her "home" turf.  Her inspiration is music of all kinds and includes the likes of The Beatles, Ed Sheeran, Lisa Hannigan, Oasis, The Cure and Imagine Dragons.

King of Paws Dog Training Workshop

Calling all Dog Owners - the DSPCA Dog Training Academy will be in Peoples Park on10th June and they will be bringing some of their four legged friends.  They will be teaching people how to better understand the ways dogs learn and how dogs perceive the world around them.  They use positive reinforcement techniques.  At their workshop they will be showing kids of ALL ages how to approach dogs, to make sure they ask permission from person with the dog before they go to pet a dog; how to walk a dog and how important it is to pick up after your dog.

Donal Casey – CPR Instructor

Learn how to do CPR and possibly save a life!!  We are holding a 1 hour training sessions on CPR on 17th June from 12 to 1 pm in Peoples Park with Donal Casey.  Donal is a CPR and Defibrillator Instructor who is a retired former Assistant Chief Fire Officer in Dublin Fire Brigade.  He is accredited by the Irish Heart Foundation and the American Heart Association.  During his one hour session he will be showing people how to:- Do CPR for adults and infants- How a defibrillator works- How to deal with someone (either adult or infant) who is chokingSo come along it always good to be prepared.

Eoin Dillon

Eoin Dillon has been playing the pipes & whistles since the age of 15. As a founding member of KÍLA he released 11 albums and toured the world with performances at top festivals including Glastonbury, Womad (Aus/NZ) and Montreux Jazz Festival. As a solo artist, Eoin has guested with U2, Baaba Maal, Sinead O’ Connor, Donal Lunny & Jane Sibery. He composed the music with Kíla for 2 OSCAR winning animation films in 2012/2015 - while his solo compositional work on ‘Ireland’s Wild River’ was nominated in the Best Music category at the 2015 EMMY Awards. Eoin’s most recent album “Pondelorum” was released in September 2016. Don’t miss this opportunity to see such a talented artist!! 

Maguire Family

The Maguire Family Band from Wicklow is a four-piece family band who play both traditional Irish music and modern tunes. The band consists of Emma who is 17 and plays fiddle, flute and whistle; Aoife who is 15 and plays concertina and uilleann pipes; Sean who is 12 and plays the bodhrán and dad Philip who plays guitar.  They had their first US tour in 2017 wowing audiences and getting standing ovations everywhere they played.  They have played at Montana Folk Festival and the Milwaukee Irish Festival.  The Maguire Family Band released their debut album “Little Giants and Other Oxymorons” in December 2016 with 6 songs composed by the band.

James Aherne

James Aherne is Dublin born tenor currently studying at the Royal Irish Academy of Music.  Having graduated from UCD in 2017.  His repertoire ranges from Italian aria to contemporary classics.  James' previous ensemble performance experiences include engagement at the 3 Arena, The Late Late Show and The Bord Gáis Energy Theatra.  He has also done solo work for RTÉ Radio and Radio na Gaeltachta.

Pat Fallon

Pat Fallon, a professional magician since 1987, performs in all areas of magic from children’s shows to close-up magic, cabaret, stage magic, to his own full evening show. One of his many TV performances includes “Christmas Showtime” with Boyzone, and he has given numerous radio interviews. He is Ireland’s only Gold Star member of the Inner Magic Circle and is also a recipient of The Merlin Award from the International Magic Society for his family magic theatre show. Don’t miss this magic opportunity to be amazed!!

Freddy Walsh

Freddy Walsh is a guitarist currently based in Dublin . He holds a Master’s degree in Performance & Musicology from NUI Maynooth, and a BA in Music from Waterford I.T. In 2014, he won first place in the senior classical guitar competition in the Feis Ceoil, becoming the first WIT student to do so. He has performed throughout Ireland in such venues as the Unitarian Church, St Anne’s Church, Castalia Hall, Garter Lane, and Crescent Arts Centre Belfast. He studied under the tuition of classical guitarist Michael O’Toole and jazz guitarist Tommy Halferty. Freddy performs a mix of music, taking influences from many genres including classical, blues, jazz and rock.

Paddy FitzGerald

Paddy Fitz is a Dún Laoghaire native and graduate of BIMM Dublin. He owes his love of live performance to St Conleth’s College, where he attended secondary school and after his first school concert, developed a yearning for the stage which was encouraged by his music teacher, Philip MacMullan of the Yurodny Ensemble. These days, he can frequently be found jamming in Gilbert & Wright Dún Laoghaire and playing gigs all over Dublin City. His setlist includes everything from punk rock to electronic dance, with audience participative sing-alongs his preferred musical style, and the somewhat bizarre mixture of U2, Avicii, Gorillaz, The Killers, Coldplay, Calvin Harris, Snow Patrol and the Swedish House Mafia among his biggest influences. Drop by and enjoy this eclectic artist’s performance!!
